October 11

Well, it seems that pottery season has begun. The shelves are starting to fill up (at least Angela has been busy) and the old kiln is still in the middle of the studio. Maybe Karen will remember to ask Gerald to move it this week.

I imagine that the beginner class is doing all sorts of handbuilding, as Julie has this theory about that being an important phase in the development of a potter. The intermediate classes is busy with a variety of other projects. This week, our assignment was to make 10 different mugs. Some keeners made more than 10 and others made a variety of interesting shapes that probably wouldn't hold water. Oh well, better luck next week.

For those of you who plan ahead, the "4th Triennial Canadian Clay Ceramic Symposium" is being held on March 24 in Burnaby, BC. For more information, have a look at www.bcpotters.com. Some pretty famous potters will be there (I actually recognised a couple of names).

Have fun and keep potting!
